What is the Co-op Comfort program?
The Co-op Comfort program helps reduce energy during times of peak energy demand, much like our existing Smart Select Load Management program, which we have had for many years. The best part of the Co-op Comfort program is that there is no need for a physical “switch” to be connected to your outside HVAC unit. Your smart thermostat acts as the switch.
By enrolling your internet connected smart thermostat into our Co-op Comfort program, you agree to let Flint Energies make brief, limited adjustments of up to ±3 degrees to your thermostat during times of peak electricity demand. For participating, you can receive up to $30 in credit on your electric bill for each thermostat you have enrolled from June 1 through October 31. Plus, when you sign up, you will receive a $50 credit just for volunteering for our pilot program. Enrollment incentives will be applied as a bill credit within two billing cycles. Participation incentives will be applied as a bill credit by November each year.
You will save energy and money all the while helping Flint Energies keep electricity costs down.
- Are you a Flint Energies residential member?
- Do you own a central air conditioning unit and use it to cool your home?
- Do you currently have or plan to purchase an internet-connected smart thermostat?
- Members must have Flint Energies electric service at the residence where the thermostat is installed.
- Members need to be current and in good standing on all Flint Energies accounts.
- Members must provide their own eligible thermostat device. See list below.
- The member is solely responsible for arrangements and results of work performed by contractors assisting with device installation.
- The member must maintain a working wi-fi network and keep participating thermostats connected to it and the manufacturer’s platform.
- Incentives and program spots are limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Completing the enrollment process does not guarantee participation in the program or that an incentive is still available.
