The Full STEAM Ahead grant, sponsored by the Flint Energies Foundation and Flint Energies, awards money to schools who have developed a creative project that energizes learning in the areas of science, technology, engineering, arts and/or mathematics.

The Full STEAM Ahead program distributes grants of $3,000 to PreK-12 public or private schools located in the Co-op’s 17-county service territory. The grants are not for professional development or Smart Board purchases.

All grant money for this program comes from unclaimed capital credits designated for education programs.

The 2023 deadline has passed.

Grant Criteria

Who is eligible?

Any public or private school (PreK-12) located in Flint Energies’ service territory is eligible to apply for a Full STEAM Ahead grant.

Does my project qualify?

To be considered for the Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead grant, the proposed project must benefit at least 60 percent of the school's student population, and concentrated in one or more of the following subjects: science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.

Can schools submit more than one application?

Yes, each school can submit up to three entries per year.

What is the maximum grant amount?

The grant amount is $3,000. 

What qualities is Flint looking for in the grant applications?

  • Innovative, creative learning experiences for students within your school

  • Clearly defined plan of implementation 

  • Benefits and directly involves students

  • Provides an adequate budget summary

  • Provides longevity; it is not a one-time event

Who judges the applications?

A panel of judges will review the applications and rank them based on their innovative and educational plans in the area of science, technology, engineering, arts and/or mathematics, to benefit students, and the school, as a whole.
