Each May, lineworkers from across the state gather at Camp John Hope for the Georgia Lineman's Rodeo—a day dedicated to showcasing the strength, precision, and teamwork required in this profession.

From the ground up, this event mirrors the real challenges lineworkers face every day. Competitors climb poles, perform equipment installations, and execute rescue scenarios—all while being timed and judged on safety and accuracy.

But beyond the competition, the Georgia Lineman’s Rodeo is a celebration. Families, friends, and community members come together to support the men and women who serve on the front lines of power restoration. It’s a chance to see firsthand what it takes to do this job—and to appreciate the skill behind every flipped switch.

Taking It to the Next Level: International Competition

For some, the journey doesn’t stop in Georgia.

Each October, top competitors advance to the International Lineman's Rodeo in Kansas City—often referred to as the “Olympics of linework.”

Here, the stakes are higher, the competition is tougher, and the stage is bigger. Lineworkers from across the country—and even around the world—come together to test their skills in fast-paced, high-pressure events that demand precision, focus, and teamwork.
